Ceramic Scribbles

July 3, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

This series of tableware would definitely be on my wishlist if I wasn’t still skipping my way across the world every couple of years.

David Shrigley, Turner prize nominated and Fourth Plinth commissioned British artist,  designed his first ceramics collection for the Gallery at Sketch in London as part of the restaurant’s program of artist collaborations.

“I’m delighted to be working with Sketch on such an exciting commission,” said Shrigley. “It will be the first artwork that I have made that can go in the dishwasher. It will be very clean artwork.”

A great first effort if I’d say! Makes one happy with the drawings, copy and handwritten type – especially the condiment pots labelled “dust”, “nothing” and “dirt”.

Shrigley also created 239 new pieces of art that will line the wall of the restaurant and feature everything from cucumbers to poodles.

The ceramics will be on sale from August 2014. Go grab your own set at Sketch.
