I just stumbled across Samorost 3 and it’s hands-down the most beautiful game I’ve ever come across. Okay, I don’t exactly play many games at all – but every new scene and world provide you with some serious visual eyecandy.
Samarost 3 is a puzzle point-and-click adventure game developed by Amanita Design, starring a small, white-clad humanoid with a little cap and brown boots. Each character communicates without any dialogue and the puzzles and brainteasers are explained through visuals the whole way through. Even the soundtrack and sound effects are impressive.
Consider me a fan.
Here are some more screenshots I took during the game:
Go check it out – I downloaded it from the Apple App Store.
Fun Fact: “Samorost is a Czech word that is used to describe objects sculpted from discarded wood (roots, trunks, branches, etc.), usually for decorative purposes. The protagonist of the game lives on an asteroid that resembles such an object. Another meaning of ‘samorost’ is “maverick.” The word is composed of the parts samo- (“self, auto-“) and rost (form of růst, “to grow”). This could also be translated as “vagabond,” “self-identifier,” “individualist,” or “wanderer,” especially in the context of the protagonist.” – Wikipedia
