Everyone wants to make a difference, everyone wants to do good. I believe it is part of human nature, some may argue otherwise. They might point out those that do things just to to make themselves feel better, just to attempt to right some wrongs, just to show others that they have made a positive contribution. There are however, the ones that want to do good because they believe in making the world (or at least a small part of it) a better place. Paint in some rainbows and throw in some butterflies. Put smiles on some faces.
One girl did just that. She called it “Happy Street Day”.
Zoe Green decided to wake up bright and early on April 15th as part of her personal mission to try and bring some unexpected cheer to the neighbours. Waking up at 5am normally brings about the worst in people – grumbles and grunts. But not on this day; balloons were hung, post-its were stuck and signs were displayed on bridges. Something that might actually spark conversation, making people stop for a moment and tear their eyes away from the iPhones to notice their surroundings as they walk down the street.
“I don’t intend to change the world. but I know that if you brighten one person’s day they are highly likely to brighten someone else’s.” – Zoe Green herself, aka Pea Green Girl
I am slightly in love with her project. Just a small sprinkle of sunshine, but it shall act as my inspiration for the week. Favourite line: “So how can I make a difference? One smile at a time.”

PS/ A gallery visit, a massive plate of nachos and a fresh apple martini – not bad for a Wednesday. Today was definitely my Happy Day.

Wow this is so sweet. It would definitely brighten my day if someone did this down my street – and probably confuse me too 😉

Glad that you liked it as much as I did! The moment of confusion would definitely be worth it though. Even Monday mornings would whizz by faster. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we’ll spot something similar sometime.
