There are not many things I love more than depictions of monsters. I don’t know why – there’s something about them. An odd kind of whimsy that makes you smile although it’s hard to put your finger on the exact reason why.
Here’s one that I found and fell in love with:
It’s not hard…Look at the little guy!
He’s created by Luciano Polverigiani, a South American Artist who creates ceramic objects which are a mix of fine art sculptures and toys – who needs to draw the line between the two anyway? Each of his pieces are created with materials that were readily available to ancient civilisations – primarily clay and mud – and he enjoys experimenting with enamel and colour glazes. Once each one is created and brought to life, the little guys are then fired with eucalyptus wood in a gas kiln at 1180°C, the ideal temperature for vitrification.
Polverigiani believes that ceramics are the perfect medium to create infinite possibilities, and likes creating scenes where multiple characters interact and create a harmony, a rhythm, using forms pure and polished.
Via This Is Colossal, and more pieces can be found via his Behance.
