I have been neglecting this space for a little while now. Would like to blame it on the cold weather which made my hands freeze; -9 degrees that according to the weather forecast felt like -17 degrees. Shanghai has an odd sort of cold - the humid type that leaks into your bones no matter how many layers you're wearing. Evidence: My heater also broke down during the coldest weekend in 35 . . .

Hot Dogs
It's a cold day (just like every other day) - but this warms the heart a little. Adorable. This group of dogs and puppies are definitely feeling the winter despite their thick fur - some restaurant staff allow them to huddle round a staff canteen stove in Jiulongjiang Forest Park, Rucheng County in China. On really cold days, the puppies bark non-stop until the stove is lit. They then stand . . .
Silent Weekends
Gone are the days of absynthe shots and cocktails that taste like gummibears. Where the only headaches we got were when we got out of bed on a Saturday morning. or Sunday morning. Or both. Oh, you were fun while it lasted. It's my first weekend alone since I got to Shanghai, with the boyfriend gone on a business trip and the housemate gone back to visit her hometown.
