Clever Urban Art

January 9, 2017 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

I always feel a sense of happiness whenever I read about any cool news coming out of Australia. I know we are a massive country size-wise, but it doesn’t really seem like much news seems to spurt out from beyond our oceans. The ones that do get spread revolve around the occasional shark attack (understatement), people drunkenly pulling off their pants in public, and how can we forget…the video of the kind people of Perth – my very own city – who helped the man release his stuck leg from between the train and the platform. I cannot believe it has 15,966,285 views! But it’s pretty heartwarming, I must say.

Enough rambles. Onto my Aussie sighting.

Today I wanted to highlight Australian artist Michael Pederson. His witty signs caused many minutes of amusement for me – as I’m sure it also would for the people who walk past them.

His pieces provide a peek into the observations that he has about public life, and can sometimes even act as a source of therapy in a place where stress and anxiety seem to take over.

To avoid running into the law, Pederson’s pieces are built using easily removable materials. I’ve never understood why people even remove or paint over little gems such as these though – they add such life into each street they exist on.

Check out more of his work on his website. Spotted via The Creators Project.
