Street Pong

September 17, 2012 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

No, I'm not talking about some sort of funky smell... Two students from HAWK Hildesheim in Germany - who were probably in a constant state of boredom at traffic lights - came up with this concept. The game is attached to traffic lights on both sides of a crossing, allowing for 'playful urban interactions' while waiting to cross the road. Might actually have quite a bit of fun moving the little . . .

Difficult Topics

September 15, 2012 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Finally feels like a real weekend - my days were starting to blur into one. Moving house tomorrow, so I’m missing the skateboarding World Cup that was highlighted in blue in my diary (Ballpoint pen, remember. Coloured ink pen, important. Highlighter, WOOTS). No fun. Packing is the worst. So what do I do instead? Scour the news for interesting things to read up on: Kate Middleton’s topless pics . . .

The First

September 12, 2012 By Shermaine 2 Comments

Things have whizzed past in a bit of a blur. Friday. Job interview. Monday. Job offer. Tuesday. Accept job offer. Wednesday. FIRST DAY OF WORK. Had my mini freak out last night about how 'i am not mentally prepared'. But then again, when is one ever mentally prepared to trek off to work after month(s) of holidaying? It's all very exciting. It was my agency of choice, who thought that I would . . .

Piggy Ice Cream

September 8, 2012 By Shermaine 2 Comments

Okay. On the topic of food, here's a little (slightly disturbing) bit of news that I spotted on The Daily Mail. Fast food joints seem to be creating new menus around the world. Just the other day, I opted for some chicken porridge from KFC rather than the usual greasy - yet wonderful - pieces of chicken. McDonald's developed its whole 'healthy choice menu' but it looks like Burger King went over . . .

Childish Fun

September 6, 2012 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

There are certain things in life that make us warm and fuzzy. Whether it be lying down in the sun (if you're taking being 'warm' quite literally), cuddles, hot chocolate, grabbing a tub of ice cream and watching a good movie, memories, ricotta pancakes, new clothes, receiving a hand-written letter, puppies, when an amazing song comes on, old people taking walks, first cup of coffee in the morning . . .

Lego Bricks

September 5, 2012 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Having one of those days where everything seems to fall into place. Where there's a little more bop in your step and Glee's version of 'Dancing with Myself' doesn't cause the same irritation that it normally does when it comes on. I even tried to open the windows to let in some fresh air. Soon changed my mind (note to self: China does not actually have fresh air). Let's just stick with my perfect . . .

Unusual Celebrations

September 3, 2012 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

I enjoy scouring the Internet for weird tidbits (not the physical food type), strange events and quirky places to go to. I'm just cool like that. Ahem, yes. Came across some unusual things to celebrate this month and just thought I'd post them. September 1st: International Bacon Day Dammit. I missed International Bacon Day. September 3rd: National Skyscraper Day This is the one where you are . . .
