Bookbinding Craftsmanship

January 30, 2016 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

I have been neglecting this space for a little while now. Would like to blame it on the cold weather which made my hands freeze; -9 degrees that according to the weather forecast felt like -17 degrees. Shanghai has an odd sort of cold - the humid type that leaks into your bones no matter how many layers you're wearing. Evidence: My heater also broke down during the coldest weekend in 35 . . .

Coffee Faces

January 15, 2016 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Happy Friday! Here's a fun post to celebrate the coming of the weekend. Backbone Branding design studio from Armenia created a coffee cup with some serious personality. They're not only incredibly adorable (and kinda cheeky), they're also customisable allowing the drinker to change the mood of their coffee cup according to how they're feeling that day. Clever? Their logo was first created 15 years ago and it was finally time for a fresh new look, so they made it all about bright colours, patterns, and expressive . . .

Hip Hop Dudes

September 21, 2015 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

These little guys are so great. Created by graphic design studio FOREAL and inspired by hiphop culture, their hairstyles and styles are reminiscent of the rappers across a range of different eras. They bring back memories of the days when I was driving around in my yellow Celica with blonde streaks in my hair, blasting R&B and hiphop from burnt CDs. A time . . .
