Quench Some Thirst

February 25, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Came across it the UNICEF Tap Project yesterday and thought it was really cool so just wanted to share… I know that everyone's most probably addicted to your phones and all things tech, but perhaps you can step away for a couple of minutes for a good cause - for every 10 minutes that a person does not touch their phone, UNICEF's partners will donate one day of water to children in need. You'll . . .

Electrifying

February 25, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Photographer Francisco Negroni managed to capture an erupting volcano in Chile, right in the middle of a lightning storm. Talk about timing - these photos are amazing. That's not something that any of us would like to be caught in... via Airows . . .

Ippo, the Italian Zonkey

February 24, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Yes, Zonkey: a rare crossbreed between a zebra and a donkey. This particular one was born in Italy last year, the only one of her kind in the country. News coming a little late I know...but news that must be shared. Martin the Zebra had a strange love for Giada the donkey next to his enclosure and jumped the fence to get closer - the result was an awkwardly adorable zonkey called Ippo. Too . . .

Buy Some Love

February 23, 2014 By Shermaine 2 Comments

Something that we do need a little more of in our lives (other than ice cream) are well designed retail stores. With the rise of e-commerce, stores are just often used as the face of the brand – yet when you look at their interiors, facades & window displays, they’re really still not that great for the bulk of the time. There are some that stand out in particular due to their choice in . . .

Sharing Bliss: Colour Your Walls

February 23, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

If you like monochromatic interiors and furnishings as much as I do, I believe that you’ll appreciate this recommendation. Melanie Mikecz, otherwise known as Two Ems, creates prints which would add a colourful pop to any wall, any room. HER STORY: Melanie Mikecz likes to consider herself a designer slash starving artist. So that means she only starves half the time (Just . . .

Talking Food

February 21, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Marion Luttenberger collaborated with a friend to create a series around ‘food, and a whole lot of love’. Have come across her works a number of times now, and she certainly does a good job experimenting with food. Aren't we glad that she didn't take her parents advice when they probably told her not to play with food during the younger years of her life? These pictures were taken for . . .

Rick’s Whipped Fog Jubilee

February 18, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

We normally hear about the lives & scandals of our favourite celebrities and designers and quite honestly...it's often not the most fascinating news. However, today I was given an insight to what one of them enjoys eating. Now, that's something of interest. 'Rick Owens' and 'Whipped Fog Jubilee' are two things that I never thought would be put together in the same sentence, but now there . . .

Teenage Snaps

February 17, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Not sure about you, but the only form of snapping I remember doing as a teenager was towards my parents. At the age of 25, I really should stop saying this but seriously...kids grow up too quickly these days. These photos were all submitted in the youth category of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards. The photographers have to be 19 years or younger and while some are doing it professionally, . . .

Tilting World

February 17, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Design studio ‘XYZ Integrated Architecture’ from Georgia seems to have quite the thing for tilted axes and acute angles. They take this across to their series of furniture, which have been designed to tilt as if they are just about to collapse on one side. I seem to find myself with my head a little to one side when looking at these images: These playful pieces explore the connection . . .

Wobbly Type

February 16, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Jelly is delicious to gobble, a treat enjoyed by both children and adults. Well, I'm assuming that most adults still like jelly - how can you think that the colourful, sweet, half-food half-liquid food is anything but great? Well now apparently you can also make typography with the rainbow treat. m-inspira, a pair of designers from Valencia in Spain, recently created gelatin letters as one of . . .
