Plants with Pants

December 25, 2014 By Shermaine 2 Comments

If the title itself has not yet caught your attention, check this out. Yes, literally. Plants with pants. I'm loving this new form of flowerpot, perhaps because it houses my favourite green - the cactus. No longer spend long days in the office feeling lonely and place one of these cool dudes on your desk. By Matteo Cibic, see more great products at his store. via Visual . . .

She makes use of both of her passions to create a new world splashed with colour and personality, giving each of her vintage-style photographs a unique flair, youthfulness and vibrancy. Really pretty. via ufunk.   . . .

Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture Spring 2013

October 6, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Have been having a week-long public holiday over here in Shanghai - yes, China has an absolutely blissful number of days off. For once, stayed at home and caught up on all the things you seem to put off with the excuse of "too much work" (one of which included starting to watch Breaking Bad which is extremely addictive). I've been doing plenty of reading and far too little blogging to say the . . .

A Wrapped City

September 27, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

I have a love for paper, stationery, and all things related. A little while ago, encountered the dilemma of having to give a couple of friends some green tea Kit Kats from Japan and found out that I had nothing to wrap them with (big gasp). Found a roll of scrap paper and decided to make my own... Presents always look nicer wrapped - we all too often get lazy and gift people in paper . . .

Print Lives On

September 21, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

We now live in a time where the moment there is a glimmer of uncertainty, we just "Google  it". You've all had that situation when someone on the table says something completely absurd and you're unsure whether to be impressed about their knowledge or say that they are wrong. In previous times, perhaps they were given the benefit of the doubt and we let it slide, but these days there's always that . . .

A Small Refreshment

September 3, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

"It's the little things in life that make us happy." Coca-Cola seems to have stolen my life motto! Okay fine, it's hardly a line that I can claim credit for and this new campaign is seriously adorable. Miniatures seem to be quite the trend these days. These mini kiosks were placed in five major German cities: They had little vending machines to go along with their kiosks and sold . . .

Miniature Works

September 2, 2014 By Shermaine 1 Comment

Istanbul-based Microartist, Hasan Kale, uses extreme precision and a steady hand to create a series of impossibly small paintings using everyday objects as his canvas. According to Kale, “things we usually see can turn into something invisible” - this thought inspired his new direction and his work calls attention to the things that we see yet often ignore in daily life. Anything from a butterfly . . .

Beauty in Darkness

"Guess who's back, back again. Shady's back, tell a friend. Guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back..." *music plays in the background* Yes, I'm back from my brief hiatus (with a massive tan) - adventured around Turkey & Greece for the past few weeks, which was more amazing than I could've imagined with each city being so . . .

Big Data Smoothies

July 30, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

A drink full of big data and kale chips? Sounds delicious. Josh Kline’s Skittles are not exactly the little pellets of chewy, sugary goodness that you throw into your mouth. The ones that taste like rainbows. Showcased within the Archeo outdoor art exhibition, Kline combines social activism with a sense of humour... From far, these may look like ordinary juice bottles. But upon closer . . .
