I've come to a stage in my life (aka. old age) where my parents words stop being nagging mumbles and start to make plenty of sense. It seems like it's only when you're far from home that your parents feel the closest to you - things tend to be ironic that way. You stop being the all-knowing teenage brat and you start learning that listening can get you far. That the older generation have plenty of . . .
Five Days
Not only did I get a wonderful 2 weeks back in Perth (my hometown, for those unaware) - I now have 5 days off to do absolutely nothing. Bless China and their many public holidays. Perth was a colourful burst of comfort, catch-ups, friends and family. Having enough of food restrictions in Shanghai due to food scandals and bird flu outbreaks, I ate everything and anything that came my way. I mean . . .
2000
Today marks the anniversary of my 2000th hit. (: #wootscelebration #igetexcitedatthesmallestthings #imatrendyhashtagger . . .
Little Ones
Was asked to organise my agency's first art exhibition, with all proceeds going to a children's charity of my choice. Two of my favourite things - what more can I ask for. Hyped! Came across this during my search of an orphanage to sponsor. Truth. via Half The Sky . . .
The Weekend
This definitely sounds like mine. Hope you all have a wonderful one! Source unknown. . . .
Wacky Weather
Shanghai weather is so messed up. At least we have one beautiful day to play in the sunshine! . . .
Welcome 2013
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! May it be full of happiness, and I wish that all things wonderful come your way in the year to come. This year was a little different. No crazy celebrations or drunken escapades, no drama and fireworks (both literal and not), no over-expectations of your night, no crowds to fend off wishing you had a stick. Was the first time in 4 years that NYE was spent with the . . .
Silent Weekends
Gone are the days of absynthe shots and cocktails that taste like gummibears. Where the only headaches we got were when we got out of bed on a Saturday morning. or Sunday morning. Or both. Oh, you were fun while it lasted. It's my first weekend alone since I got to Shanghai, with the boyfriend gone on a business trip and the housemate gone back to visit her hometown. I could possibly be out going . . .
Calm in the Storm
First one home on a Friday night. Nothing to complain about, I've had my vodka lime soda, antipasto and a cheese platter. Between work, the big boss visiting Shanghai from Australia, a board game night, company dinners, the boyfriend's birthday, minor house redecorating and a new housemate, there's hardly been a moment to breathe this week. A flurry of good food and way too much enjoyment. Now for . . .
Happy Bubble
The last few days have been a burst of excitement for three primary reasons: 1. My first week-long public holiday - bliss! There seemed to be a China swap where all the city-dwellers went travelling and the country-folk all came to Shanghai. Masses and masses of them. Yes, it was a myriad of colours, patterns and smelly toilets with long lines. 2. Endless eating, nougat, coffee, pineapple . . .
