Garbage Ideas

December 24, 2015 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

IT'S CHRISTMAS WEEK! DAY 4/7 Agencies normally select from a pool of the following gifts: Chocolate Printed Christmas Card Trendy Notebook A Christmas decoration Christmas Cupcakes & Cookies This year, we went for the latter (with pretty cute wrapping). Canadian advertising agency Wax thought outside the box this time and created a funny and crazy clever gift for . . .

Florals & Fashion

January 18, 2015 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

There have been great things coming out of Australia these days - admittedly, I get a little flutter of excitement whenever I see that something's from Australia. Call it pride or perhaps surprise, I'm not sure which. Being so far away from the rest of the world with a relatively small population (Shanghai has the same population as the whole of Australia), we don't normally have much news coming . . .

A Small Refreshment

September 3, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

"It's the little things in life that make us happy." Coca-Cola seems to have stolen my life motto! Okay fine, it's hardly a line that I can claim credit for and this new campaign is seriously adorable. Miniatures seem to be quite the trend these days. These mini kiosks were placed in five major German cities: They had little vending machines to go along with their kiosks and sold . . .

Best Kind of Selfie

June 4, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Selfies are everywhere. After a while, you just learn to block them out and scroll past them extra quickly whenever you're checking your Instagram feed. However, animal selfies? Now that's a different story. Brazilian stock photo agency Diomedia needed a creative campaign to debut the National Geographic Collection and what they came up with was good fun and definitely attention-grabbing. . . .

Flower Petal Explosions

April 9, 2014 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Was just talking about how advertising has reached yet another level after seeing a group of people mix & drink Robinsons juices in zero gravity with the help of Framestore, the Oscar winning VFX team behind Gravity - check it out. Then I saw this... 8 million vibrantly-coloured flower petals erupted through a small village in Costa Rica just the other day. Need further evidence? No, it's . . .

ABSOLUT’ly Open Canvas

June 27, 2013 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

ABSOLUT does not just create awesome ads: It also creates awesome campaigns. “Transform Today” happened in Williamsburg last weekend, turning an entire block of North 6th Street into an interactive display of some of New York's finest creative talent. Freshly painted white facades were reworked, grafitti artists gave live demonstrations in alleyways, and there was a display of storefront . . .

Coke Plays Cupid

May 3, 2013 By Shermaine Leave a Comment

Coca-Cola filled a vending machine in "the most romantic park" in Shanghai with bottles that have extremely tightened caps. The goal? Some sneaky match-making. http://vimeo.com/64116043#at=14 Some employee of ad agency Leo Burnett must've been in a cheeky cupid mood when coming up with this campaign. The purpose is for unexpecting females to have trouble opening the soft drink bottle by . . .

A New Kind of Tagging

January 30, 2013 By Shermaine 2 Comments

A fun campaign by Ogilvy & Mather. Jon Morgan and Mike Watson scoured through the three-letter codes (used to identify luggage destinations) from over 9000 airports to create 36 advertisements. Here are a few of my favourites: via TrendLand . . .

Macca’s, the Aussie Way

January 15, 2013 By Shermaine 2 Comments

Macca's. Mickey-D's. Macs. McDo. Whatever you call it, you always recognise the international fast food giant the moment you see its glowing arches. In order to celebrate Australia Day, McDonald’s has temporarily changed its name... For the next few weeks, Australians can all spot the nickname of their ever-so-loved fast food restaurant on signage across the country. An Aussie tastes menu . . .
